Made In The Shade
Quite a bit of my garden is too shady to grow traditional sunny perennial border plants.  What sun areas I have get filled up quick with the tender and tropical plants that I enjoy so much.  Using shade to my advantage, I'm trying to create a mix of plants that will be pleasing for the entire gardening season(April through October here).
Since I spend a good deal of time looking out of second story windows at my gardens, I like to get pictures from that vantage point. This is my east shade pathway many years ago.  It starts in the front yard and continues around into the gardens on the east side of my house.  Much of this has changed since this picture was taken.  In fact alot has changed but I really like this shot.
Here is the same shade path in the spring from the ground looking into the east shade garden.  When this picture was taken, I hadn't finished mulching and planting. Of course, this is all subject to change and already has.  LOL!

A view of part of the shade garden in 2003.
Here we are in the spring of 2006 from a slightly different angle.  I've been neglecting this part of the garden for a couple of years so a revamp is in the works for 2007.
May 2006.  Who said Viburnum didn't grow or bloom well in the shade?
